intro to christian science for those who dont know it:

there are 2 consciousnesses. a real one Mind and a fantasy one called mortal mind.  the consciousness (cit) of Mind is perfect.  the collected beliefs of fleshly humans are called mortal mind and mm is the temporary illusion which is always changing.   to mbe there is no mixing of the 2.  but i believe there is separate coexistence in the cit of Mind & mm of us all until we become fully Mind.  at whatever speed we are able we go we should work to get entirely out of mm to Mind but  there is a step by step way to get there.  healing self & others sums up the process of salvation in cs.  as we heal the mind we heal the body

according to cs everyone is saved ultimately.  my view is that were becoming god or in meta language (which sees the end from the beginning) we are god because metans like to place ourselves at the finish of any process.  this is good psychology for we never lose sight of our goal.  optimism is what all of existence is about.  it could be called the meaning of life.  it is the stuff of metaphysics  

by thinking of Mind we can heal ourselves by aggressively telling ourselves that the perfect cit is our destiny and we shouldnt be satisfied to wait for it

idolatry of matter is the cause of the misery of our existence.  mortals respect matter & mm far more than god.  therefore we have a slight respect for god and a huge respect for matter & mm.  we dont respect the power of god to improve our lives.  in one respect were behind the middle ages.  we have very few contemplatives such as the monks of the middle ages.  therefore we have runaway materialism.  everyone agrees w. this assessment but few do anything about changing their lives.  india still has very high profile contemplatives though there are a multitude of charlatans among them.  still those up in the mountains many of whom favor solitude are mostly the real thing.  i spend as much time as possible alone and i think that solitude is necessary for pril growth

p.10 in the year 1866 i found the christ science.  this is the divine law of life truth and love.  i named my finding christian science.  graciously god had readied me to receive the final unveiling of the absolute divine law of science

this perfect law is immanuel (god with us) the ruling ever presence which redeems humans from every ill of the flesh.  cs healing is infused w. a divine nature.  fresh wings are given to faith

always feeling the false cit (cit is a sanskrit word pronounced chit and meaning consciousness) that life dwells in our bodies yet able to recall that god is our life we may well tremble at the prospect of those days in which we might say i have no pleasure in them

[if god is our life then we are god but mary baker eddy believed we are only expressions of god]

p.108 but a heavenly thought came to me, a

sureness going against the physical senses.  it came from paul who refered to ‘the gift of the grace of god given to me by the sure working of his power’  it was gods divine law showing me the showable fact that matter has no sense/life.  that human life shows the falseness of all matter and that the craving for godly life is the price of experiencing love.  our only suffering comes from mortal mind our  state.  divine mind cant suffer

i learnt all this by allowing the evidence to pile up w. math certainty.  the lesser demos proved the same could be done on a higher level

when near deaths valley i learnt these truths of cs.  all real [godly] life is in god our spirit Mind.  god being life truth love and an infinity of other good qualities is ever present.  the false cit matter/death sense shuts out the true sense of god [the reverse of truth is mortal/death mind.  any number of adjectives could be used to describe it, all of them bad.  it is false and teaches unrescued human mind.  real mind is completely separate from matter/death mind (mm).  matter/death mind is a groping by unenlightened humans for usable ideas about life.  matter/death mind has the advantage over true mind in that it is in tune w. and a product of the lazy animal nature of unredeemed humans.  but when we get tired enough of the deception of low energy thinking we switch to the true mind]

i discovered that death mind produces all the organs and the actions of them [thats why we die]

christian sci reveals firmly that Mind is all in all.  that the only realities are Mind and its human idea [us]. but this great fact isnt supported by sense proof until its divine principle is demo’d by healing the sick and thus proved absolute.  this proof once seen no other judgment can be reached

the principle of divine meta is god  

for 3 years after my find i sought the secret of this problem of Mind healing, searched the bible and read little else, kept away from

society and devoted my time to discovering a definite rule.   the search was sweet, calm and buoyant w. hope.  it was not depressing.  i know the law of all harmonious Mind action

to be god and that cures came in primitive

christian healing by buoyant faith.  but i had to know the sci of this healing and i won my way to full knowledge thru divine revealed reason and demo’ing.  the display of truth in my mind came to me gradually and apparently thru divine power.  when a new spirit idea is born the prophecy of isaiah is again fulfilled

unto us a child is born...and his name shall be called wonderful.

jesus once said of his lessons ‘my teaching is not mine but his that sent me.   if any man

do his will he shall know of the doctrine whether it is of god or whether i speak of myself’

the 3 great verities of spirit: omnipotence all power, omnipresence everywhere present

p.110 omniscience all knowing.  these 3 things

contradict that matter is real.  these truths reveal life as the shining realities of god. all

that he has made is good declared by wisdom

in this way i beheld the awful sham called evil.  the more than able nature of god brought to light 2 other props. human ability to be perfect and that the kingdom of heaven will be set up on earth.

the bible was my only textbook.  the bible

was lit up.  reason and revealing were at peace w. each other and later christian sci was demo’d.  no human pen or tongue

taught me the sci of this book science and health.  and neither tongue nor pen can kill it.  the book may be twisted by shallow criticism or by careless or evil students.  its idea may be abused.  but the sci and truth therein will always remain to be discerned and demo’d

jesus demo’d the power of christian sci to heal chaos mind but this power was lost sight of and must again be spirit seen, taught and demo’d w. signs following.   sci must be learnt by as many as believe on christ and who grasp the spirit of its truth.  there is no nex between the vague ideas of

christian science isnt sensual.  the science of god and humans isnt beyond nature anymore than is math.  departing from the realm of the physical as the realm of cs must, some may deny its right to be called science.  [even satanology can be called sci.  science is just bodies of knowledge on subjects that some groups may see as not

legitimate and others will love.  but we live in a subjective not fascist world where groups have the right to call any subject a science]

the principle of divine meta is god. the practise of divine meta is to use the power of truth over error, its rules demo’ing the sci.  divine meta reverses twisted matter ideas as to god. humans have tried to attribute matter events w. god as cause but so far little if any progress has been made

after a long look at my discovery and its proof in healing sickness this fact became clear to me.  that Mind governs the body not partly but wholely.  i put my meta system of healing to the broadest tests.  since then my system has slowly proved itself whenever scientifically

is there more than one school of christian sci.  christian science is demo’able.  there can be only one method.  those who depart from it forfeit their claims to belong to its school.  they become agents of the socratic, platonic, spencerian or some other school.  by this i mean that they adopt some system of human opinion.  [i believe here mbe shouldve mentioned that cs would be improved upon.  maybe her core system of healing wouldnt  be improved but the explanation of it might be.  and of course all other aspects of theology would be too]   although these opinions may have rare gleams of the divine borrowed from the true essence of divine sci which rejects man made systems they still remain wholly human and arent christian science [most religions claim they come direct from god.  it is true that cs documents an avalanche of healings going back over 100 ys.  but other religions also heal such as pentecostal, anglican, rc, tenrikyo, shamans and id guess sufis. its also true that cs is a more mapped out system of healing than exists anywhere else. .  i believe cs to be the most enlightened  religion]  from the right one comes one law and its human extension.  w. this comes spirit law which is demo’d.  like the giver spirit laws are the same yesterday, today and forever.  such are the divine principle and the christ idea shown in the epistle to the hebrews

any  theory of christian science that leaves from what has been stated gives no base upon which to set up a true school of this science.  if any new school claims to be christian science and used my discoveries without giving me credit such a school is illegit for it goes against the  command ‘thou shalt not steal’. [here mbe doesnt hint that her science is certain to be improved on in future but elsewhere she does.  she was just a pioneer of truth and a very good one]

god is the principle/law of divine metaphysics as there is but one god there

p.113 there  can be only one law/principle of all science and there must be fixt rules to demo this law. [yes but we havent reached it yet]  the letter of science richly reaches humans today  but its spirit (feeling) comes only in small degrees.  love is the vital part of science.  without love the letter is only the dead body of christian science having no full cit/purusha.

the base propositions of good science are summarised in the 5 following evident propositions.  [if they are read from right to left they make the same point as from left to right]

1. god is all in all

2. god is good

3. good is Mind

4. god/spirit is all

5. nothing is matter

[mrs. eddy has another proposition  but its not an ‘is or are’ prop and therefore doesnt work backwards]  

the real metaphysics of christian science proves the rule by reversing the ‘is’ prop right to left.

1. pain is not god.  god is not pain.

2. nerves are not god. god is not nerves.

3. matter is not god.  god is not matter.

p.114 our minds contain both good and bad thought.  [mrs. eddy and i use Mind for god and mind for mortal mind.  its my only use of capitals in current english in this book ]  

in science Mind is god.  mortal mind implies untrue/unreal.  

this unreal mind is based on body sense data and is therefore unreliable

[on this page mrs eddy refers to the new wine of the spirit in the context of learning better ways of conveying ideas]

christ science describes a universe that is all Mind, no matter.  mortal mind is just imagination & is not part of the substance of the multiverse.  [substance is a wonderful word to call god esp. for materialists who equate substance w. matter/ wealth].  divine Mind lifts the veil that demarks soul and body.   it shows the nex between god and [immortal] humans.  it untangles the jumble of ideas about god and humans.  in cs  the cosmos is peaceful.  what is called matter is only how fallen humans view reality  [cs isnt only a philosophy but is also a cit as all cosmic philosophies are]

apart from the usual fight against everything new the one great obstacle to the reception of that spirituality through which the understanding of Mind sci comes is the inadequancy of material matter based terms to explain meta terms.  [if our first tongue had been of spirit wed understand cs better]

p.115 the one great obstacle to the reception of that spirituality through which the understanding of Mind science comes is the inadequancy of material terms for metaphysical statements [the great difficulty is to give the right impression when translating material terms back into the original spirit tongue]

csi description of Mind

god:  principle [law], life, truth, love, soul, spirit, Mind

humans: gods spirit idea. individual, perfect, eternal [or they can be the mortal minded]

idea:  an image in Mind. an object of gods cit [redeemed humans]

cs description of mortal mind:

first degree:  depravity

evil beliefs passions appetites fear evil will self- justifying pride envy deceit hatred revenge sin sickness disease death

second degree:  evil beliefs disappearing

humanity honesty affection compasssion hope faith meekness temperance

p.116 third degree: [ purusha]

wisdom purity ...spirit power love health holiness

in this last degree of [purusha] development

mortal mind disappears and man as gods image appears.  sci wipes out the evidence before the phy senses.  the last shall be first and the first last.  [then god will be first and mortal mind nonexistent.  then] god is all inclusive, not just a sideshow.  

a right view of sci and how it adapts to healing includes far more than is seen at first

[many meta’s] leave the main point untouched.  they never crown god as all power and they dont deal w. our mortal enemies to make them extinct.  sin disease death.  god is all, matter is nothing [but illusion], mortals misjudging [mortal] life

cs says that god has no body

the concept of person nexed to god means that gods personality reaches the farthest corner of being

p.117 god as an individual includes the idea that gods individuality is as big as being.  [in speaking of god we should specify if we mean god now or god when the spiriting process ends if it ever does...it is possible god evolves]

in the last chapter of mark is the phrase ‘new tongues’.  [this shows there would be more than one good meta in the future].  human theories arent good enough to explain miracles esp. his exiting the flesh at the bethany uprising]

we dont know what it is to hear and speak pure spirit language. [pentecostals will disagree].   jesus showed life by healing the sick and sinning.  what other proof is there [of his authority].  how many theories can explain how this was done

so far no one [but enoch & elijah] has repeated his ascent into heaven but in future it will happen and the frequency will speed up

a woman hid leaven in 3 measures of meal til the whole was leavened.  cs is the leaven.  when this leaven has transformed the world jesus will return and the glory of cs will be seen in humans’  spirit freedom

[what we call science is artificially limited to nature science.  nature science doesnt take god into account and therefore has a huge amount of growing up to do so that god sci can be integrated w. nature sci]

p.119 secular nature sci proposes that nature self- evolves and self governs or that matter is the product of spirit.  the first theory leaves god out of creation.  what a strange god that would be.  if god made matter it would mean that god wanted for us to develop character by first deifying matter, then finding out that matter cant be god because it doesnt have intel.  so we develop theology and nature sci which are much more helpful.  nature is where god and matter come together.  nature is both very smart and very cruel

p.120 matter mind is always wrong.  if our human

sense tells us something that proves to be true then it is Mind that has told us this. if matter mind tells us were sick and we believe mm then we usually get sick

p.122 temporal sense is a false sense of life

p.123 christ sci will make a bigger change of medical sci than copernicus did on celestial bodies

what was revealed to me is in 2 parts

1.  i was given a spiritual sense of the bible and taught by the holy spirit

2.  that healing is for today as it has been always.  this healing law is forever

p.124 [phy sci is the knowledge of experimenting w. matter.  at some point intel systems are going to have knowledge which starts w. god and ends w. god since god is the only thing in real  existence]  

[phy sci cant tell us the why of creation or in many cases how A causes B]

adhesion cohesion and attraction are props of Mind. [yes.  gravity is annoying in its interference w. human life but necessary for sun systems to work and for the multiverse to move orderly.  these sticky processes are part of Mind.  we walk on forces.  these forces make up the cosmos.  but we need to know the higher forces which direct the ones we know from physics]

p.125 the forces of nature will change as mortal mind rises in belief [gets truer].  what is now thought to be best for body organs and function may be found to be wrong in future [or there may not be no such things as organs].  morality will be better

p.126 death will cease when humans really behold selves as gods image  

p.127 how can we leave the creator out of the creation of a comprehensive knowledge of creation.  spirit healing is the best way to learn how god works.

p.128 good is natural and primitive.  [but just wait til human sci is transformed by divine sci into a harmonious whole.  then there wont be anymore hankering for the good old days]

the human mind thinking the presumed thoughts of god becomes more elastic, escapes somewhat from itself and rises into the realm of insight

p.129 just reverse the matter teaching and usually you get the spirit one.  [im grateful for mbes contrarianism.  ive always been a contrary type of person]

[here mbe gets onto one of her hobby horses...she opposes  pantheism.  she was terrified shed be classed as a pantheist. in her day she couldve been lynched for being one.  as for pantheism she seems to believe all pantheism has a component of matter as separate from god.  if all is god what is that we call matter.  it would have to be an illusion or a product of god.  this brilliant illusion idea comes from hinduism.  websters says pantheism equates [identifies] all forces and laws of the universe w. god.  spinoza said that there is only 1 substance which is god w. an infinity of attributes one of which we call matter.  its true that matergy (matter/energy) a term i concocted and got the approval of a physics professor for its use is what we call matter/radiation.  how can one get away from matergy. id really like to turn off gravity at will.  gravity is not yet classed as matergy but i predict it will be.  i think its just a very low magnetism generated per unit of space by a huge and inefficient generator of gravity such as a heavenly body.  but my theory has a problem for unlike magnetism and other features of the electromagnetic spectrum gravity is unidirectional.  it doesnt make a loop like electricity.  mbe classed all true (nonhuman) physical events as coming by decree from god]

p.130 god is omnipotent.  [from this premise that good is all powerful we learn that god could make us all good but withholds doing so.  god wants us to struggle out of mortal mind in order to learn how it is to do things the wrong way.  god would like to cleanse us of all wrong beliefs but choses to wait for us to

do so for the above reason]

a full vessel needs to be emptied at least in part for new liquid to be added...a vessel such as us filled w. bad thoughts can reform each bad thought so that when the process is finished the vessel and contents are completely pure

p. 131 how can fat worldly people reject the cs view of life as it should be lived when theyve never tried it

p.132 [idealism is referred to on this page.  this is the idea that god is the cause of everything.  i prefer to call it ideaism for it refers to ideas.  the greatest of all ideas is god.  so ideaism has god as one of its categories.  ideaism is the reverse of naturalism/materialsim.  today we live in an age of materialism where matter is thought to direct itself and be its own innovator]

[most people have some belief in ideas whose origin they believe is matter or god.  the golden age of physics was the early 1900s when physics became supernatural from the point of view of the hardline materialist.  but the masses are taking their time to learn this supernaturalis’ from modern physics]

p.133 from the bible we learn of the many miracles done for and by the ancient jews.  [but today about the only jewish miracle we can point to is israel]

[mrs. eddy has trouble w. the most intimate name of god jehovah, ehuh in my transliteration of it. what name could be better for god than this one.  it means ‘he will be what he will be’.  going deeper it means nobody tells god what to do.  god is self acting.  the other name for god is elohim, which means ‘gods’. those gods can be pagan gods or whatever anyone worships.  mbe sees ehuh as a tribal god of wrath and elohim as gods of all kinds. but that would make her a polytheist which she wasnt.  the israelis of that time saw god as wrathful because they were just starting out to understand god]

p.135 ‘christianity must be c. science and v.v. else one or the other is false’ [the logic here is bad.  they both could be false. what can be said certainly is that cs practises truer c’y than the other churches because cs rightly places first emphasis on healing & teaching  just as jesus did.  healing prepares the way for teaching]

p.138 in the christian era jesus set up the precedent for all christianity.  christians are under as direct orders now as they were then to be christlike, to possess the christ spirit and to heal the sick as well as the sinning.  it is easier for healers to cast out sickness than sin for the sick are much more willing to part w. pain than are sinners to give up the sinful so called pleasures (excitements) of the senses.   jesus theology was aggressive.  go into all the world, preach the gospel to every creature, heal the sick, love thy neighbor

p.139 from beginning to end the scriptures are full of accounts of the triumph of spirit over matter

in the past, church councils decided what was to be bible.  30,000 different readings of the old testament.  300,000 of the new.  this is how a mortal sense stole into the bible [one very nasty verse is the one abt giving account in the final judgment for idle words.  the problem word is ‘the’ judgment.  imo ‘the’ should be left out. im not a greek scholar but  if ‘the’ is left in it would indicate the final judgment.   many languages use ‘the’ beforet nouns regardless if its a specific case or it is in general.  if the greek language of the original can be rendered as judgment in general  this verse can be  interpreted as judgment in general. then it would mean idle words can cause us problems w. other people]

p.140 the bible quotes god as saying ‘thou canst not see my face.  for there shall no man see me and live’.  [could this mean were walking backward into the future for we seem to have little concept of what the future will be. revelation and daniel are abt all we have to go on.  i wish god would reveal his face to all of us]

the jewish tribal god ehuh was given to wrath/repentance, changeable.  the cs god is universal eternal loving.  [true it is that the old testament has just a glimmering of the true nature of god.  the god concept of so called  believers thru the ages has tried to wipe out the nourishing power of god but the wrathful part is invoked when anger rises.  i lament that the power of god tradition of judaism and c’y is all but wiped out today.  in its place we have the rather dead synagogue judaism & sleepy c’n services]

p.141 this indicates the distance between the theological and ritualistic religion of the ages and the truth preached by c’n demo

[today in the churches we have a sleep inducing kind of theology and ritual equally sleep inducing.  they should hand out pillows at the door]

[the belief is that all light should come from bookish theological types who are ordained to be our many popes.  cs has 1 pope mbe who was a genius.  but she didnt claim to have the last word on cs.  i dont see any mechanism to evolve cs]

in what churches are we told of the bible verse that all believers are kings and priests unto god.  if we realised this thered be much more healing [to the degree that one heals one is a saint.  but better than healing is a theology that keeps people well]

[the dust dry scholastic seminaries...i went to one...of today are primarily interested in promoting statism even to the extent of total statism say communism.  w. the fall of communism my guess is the sems are on the econut wagon. to want to save predator/killer animals to me is perverse. these  far out politix are usually about daddy problems that the holders of are in denial abt]

p.142 modern religion likes to emphasize the weakness of humans, the mortal side.  so we have religious ‘leaders’ who are tzitzers (yid.  these hypocrites shake their heads sideways and make a cricket like sound as if to say ‘isnt it a pity, isnt it a shame’).  empower humans?  never!  itd be bad for business. keepm weak.   but what happens if

everyone goes on gov programs.  then the lashes

come out & we go to a slave system]

where are the temple whippers of today to get phonies out of places of prominence.     [i like joan rivers assessment of her rabbi as a pompous windbag.  she did it on nyc radio]

p.143 since Mind is the great creator all power is god.  god should be our source of health.  [but we should not hesitate to use safe home remedies if they work. then we can pray for a permanent cure of the problem.   Mind healing is infinitely better than home remedies for it simulaneously and permanently cures disease & the psy problem that causes the disease.  but it usually takes much longer to get relief from Mind if one isnt an expert healer.  a good mantra is i am perfect health.  or if you wish  you can say the world is perfect health.   better to say this than ‘in’ perfect health for what is in can come out.  if my essence is perfect health it cant be removed without annihilating me]

p.144 [the gritting the teeth method of healing aka human will power is not what heals.  its the opposite waiting on god.  meditating on god keeps us well and heals]

someday cs will be known worldwide and each of us will be our own doctor]

p.145 truth controls error.  to the godless  godliness is a mystery.

[the more one puts cs into ones data bank the better ones health]

to oppose error w. error increases the hatred between one aspect of mortal mind and another.  thus mortal mind is weakened and its doomsday draws closer

 

p.146 [but for cs people to promote mortal mind cures in order to hasten mm’s death is foolish.  much better to use the knock out punch of Mind]

p.147 in hard cases dont forget to pray and fast.  such frees the mind for the job to be done  [but the bigger picture is holistic healing.  the entire body is treated at the same time.  i believe we extend our lives by so doing so that when we cut down one disease we dont let another one take us by surprise]

p.400 contending persistently for truth [when healing, be persistent.  laziness is perhaps the worst sin of all sins for it can lead  to all the others]

the disturbed mind  [we think of disturbed minds as being in people w. behavior problems.  but in cs disturbed minds is extended to disease.]

p.404 there is no real pleasure in sin  [if one conquers a moral problem the pleasure lasts forever.  mere sinful pleasure has to be repeated in order for there to be pleasure and the pleasure lasts a very short time]

p.406 the leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations  [this can be interpreted as meaning the pages of science and health would heal the nations.  this seems to be happening. also  the verse can be interpreted as endorsing herbal remedies which ive never had results from]

p.408 mm is ignorant of itself.  ignorant of the sorrows it includes and of their effects  [mm isnt a person or a selfcit entity of any kind.  it is just a pattern of thinking by mortals.  since at least some mm is the state of most humans and we humans have selfcit were not ignorant of the weight of general opinion.  mind your dreams.  they can give much info on your entire being]

p.409 the nearer matter approaches its final statement...the more prolific it is likely to become in sin and disease beliefs [the list of diseases grows daily]

unconscious substratum matter  [mbe’s subcit mind is different from the modern concept which is mental data that we dont want to face and thus put out of our cit.   the unconscious  is better known as peripheral mind or dim cit for subconscious implies a sealing off from consciousness]

p.411 if the student silently called the disease by name when he argued against it as a general rule the body would respond more quickly...  if spirit (the power of divine love) bears witness to the truth, this is the ultimatum, the scientific way and the healing is instantaneous... [in the case of the gadarene demoniac] jesus caused the evil to be self seen and so destroyed...disease is an image of thought externalised...always begin your treatment by allaying the fear of patients.  silently reassure them as to their exemption from disease and danger.  watch the result of this simple rule of christian science and you will find that it alleviates the symptoms of every ‘disease’.  if you succeed in wholly removing the fear your patient is healed

these tips mbe gives for healing are misleading to me.  one can drive self nuts w. trying first one then another approach in healing.  to me theres one best approach & that is to live in the land of cs amap & to tell your patient to do the same.  the attempt at fine tuning cs healing puts one in the mentality of error.  stay w. the land of cs & youll be much more effective.  and this is what practitioners seem to do

argue at first mentally not audibly that the patient has no disease and conform the argument so as to destroy the evidence of disease.  mentally insist that harmony is the fact and that sickness is a temporal dream.  realise the presence of health and the fact of harmonious being until the body corresponds w. the normal conditions of health

if the case is that of a young child or an infant it [the disease] needs to be met mainly through the parents thought silently or audibly

p.413 Mind regulates the condition of the stomach bowels and food  [here mbe is looking at the sit from the standpoint of Mind]

however obstinate the case [insanity] yields more readily than do most diseases to the salutary action of truth

the impossibility that matter, brain can control or derange mind  [to mbe matter or brain cant derange mind but mortal mind certainly can and its the only cause.   what mbe means here is that Mind rules out the legitimacy of mental disease.  if we keep our minds on Mind we will never suffer from any problems of any kind ever.  but human nature being lazy often we  take the easy way

p.414 explain cs to them [your patients] but not too soon...[dont hurt them by] troubling and perplexing their thought

explain to your patients the complete control which Mind holds over the body  [again we have the problem of what could be called the meta mode of the verb ‘holds’.  the holding is conditional upon the patient staying in Mind mode all the time..  here mbe is trying to imprint on the patients mind that Mind is the only way to go.  but we shouldnt be bullies when giving treatment.  metans dont want to use the conditional words can ought should or even the nonconditional ‘will’.  metans want to state their case as vigorously as possible.  but in the modern antiauthoritarian world people have enough self respect to form their own opinions & to insist on keeping them.  better to say  ‘if you do this, that will happen.’   if the patient can take it vehemence is the way to go.  jesus used it.  aggressiveness works]

p.418 show them how mm induces the belief in disease [the disease is very real to the patient so i believe the patient has the right to hold onto the disease if their dimcit wont let it go.  then the healer can deal w. the dimcit if possible if same can access it]

if a crisis of symptoms occurs in your treatment this is good.  it means youre turning the corner and the healing will soon be complete.  emphasise that god is all.  ultimately there is no disease.  dont get inquisitive abt the symptoms of your patient for a reciting of them just embeds further the disease belief

usually to admit that youre sick renders your case less curable while to recognise your sin aids in destroying it

p.476 mortals are not fallen children of god.  they never had a perfect state of being which may subsequently be regained.  they were from the beginning of mortal history ‘conceived in sin and brought forth in iniquity’  [at first it sounds that mortals will be destroyed for they have no hope of immortal life.  but look at what comes next:]  mortality is finally swallowed up in immortality.  sin sickness and death must disappear to give place to the facts which belong to immortal man.  [in other words she was just kidding when she said we were conceived in sin. she was taking on the voice of the orthodox.   we may very well have been created out of nothing.  the result would be huge growth pains/weakness.  it could be that the writers of the bible invented the fall to explain our sinful state]  learn this...mortal and earnestly seek the spirit status of man which is outside of all material selfhood  [sometimes mbe takes on the voice of mm people.  she writes as if she was in mm completely in order to mock mm]

p.480 consciousness as well as action is governed by Mind  [here again we have meta language that is meant for greater impact than ordinary language is.  meta language could be called the creative mood.  or the make believe mood. in our experience both Mind & mm effect us until we get nirvana/full liberation]  

material sense has its realm apart from cs in the unreal  

p.488 if it were possible for the real senses of man to be injured Soul could reproduce them in all their perfection.  but they cant be disturbed or destroyed since they exist in immortal Mind not in matter  [it is our job to get in touch w. our perfect selves]

[here i go back to the beginning of science and health.  i started my analysis w. p.107 of this book.  by so doing i got right into the most substancial part of the book.  now i go back to p.1 of the textbook to get into what i consider to be lighter matter]

p.1 desire is prayer  [here buddhism and c’y are in conflict.  b’m teaches that worldly desire is to be avoided since it leads to frustration which leads to misery.  in c’y worldly desire is OK but one doesnt always get what one wants since some desires are not righteous.  in fact since there is no god in most of buddhism except for some japanese b’m there is no prayer except prayer to buddhists whove become fully developed/enlightened called bodhisattvas. there is no eternal life in most buddhism and no eternal god.  the only thing eternal abt most b’m is matergy creating & uncreating.  yuppies get great comfort out of buddhism for it puts the brake on their runaway greed]

p.2 the unspoken desire does bring us nearer the source of all existence and blessedness  [cs teaches that all prayer should be silent so as to avoid oratory contests.  a great  idea!]

p.3 to understand god is the work of eternity [here i hope mbe is wrong.  i believe we are god or we are becoming god.  if we want to remember our mortal lives we may be able to contact the akashic records if they exist.  possibly all the details of  our lives are in our memory if we learn how to access it completely which prolly means going back to the akashic records]

are we really grateful for the good already received?  then we shall avail ourselves of the blessings we have and thus be fitted to receive more [theres no substitute for moral action.  certainly not prayer]

p.5 sin is forgiven only as it is destroyed [heres one ive never heard from any source but cs & hinduism.  what good is it if were forgiven for every sin weve ever done but keep on sinning.  forgiveness hurts us by soothing us into inaction against our sins.  forgiveness doesnt lead to sally.  getting past sin/rising above it does]

p.7 the divine ear is not an auditory nerve  [in the immortal realm we hear by telepathy.  i believe we can hear telepathically now if we practise.  this is how i talk to bigfeet but they dont answer back.  very coy they are!  the most i get out of them is the sound of huge boots walking in crunchy snow]

p.8 hold secret fellowship w. sin  [isnt this what we all do before we come clean abt sin which i did in 1974 when i let the world know i was gay.  it helped me rid self of sexual obsession for in 26 ys ive done the dirty deed only once.  how abt you heteros. can you match my record.  im 71 so its easier for me than for younger men. imo sex is abt repro not abt psychological therapy.  get rid of sex obsession]

are you willing to leave all for christ  [as my true self/god disentangles me from pet interests i am free to become one w. the program]

p.9 love the lord thy god w. all thy heart  [i believe im god and believe you are too so love of other humans who are also god is easy if conducted in that spirit]

are you willing to leave all for christ...and so be counted among sinners  [have you ever heard it put this way that we must be counted among sinners if we are to be fully moral.  my father treated me as if i was one of the most evil people in the world and used me as a scapegoat.  he was a satanist in that he believed satan was god & there was no good god.  but i think this was just himself venting.  our father problems (i call them daddy problems) are probably the worst people problems we have since the father role is a the hardest role in life to play perfect.  its the undealt w. daddy problems that are the most pernicious.  ive ID’d two complexes that cause daddy problems.  the edipal where the first child is a boy. the boy gets most of mothers attent & the father gets envious.   he wants to kill the boy at least in the dimcit.  the mother & the boy are bonded as lovers.  then theres the isaac/jesus complex in which the father sacrifices his oldest child [in the case of isaac he was the oldest legitimate boy child].  abrahams loyalty to god was being tested as opposed to abrahams love of isaac.  in the case of jc god was demo’ing his sons loyalty

p.16 a great sacrifice of material things must precede this advanced spiritual understanding [how can a pure heart desire a mound of matter in order to be content]

p.19 those who cant demonstrate at least in part the divine principle of the teachings and practise of our master have no part in god  [to me the only real demo of god is body healing.  to reason a sin out of another is greater but less dramatic]  

jesus urged the commandment ‘thou shalt have no other gods before me’ which may be rendered ‘thou shalt have no belief of life as mortal’

p.23 that gods wrath should be vented upon his beloved son is divinely unnatural.  such a theory is man made  [why did jesus go to the cross wilfully.  because he was the greatest communicator ever.  he know how to get an audience.  what religious figure can equal him.  also he showed that we can regain life after being ‘killed’ as it appeared and that we can escape mm thru  ascent to nirvana/Mind]

the cs explanation of [the atonement] is that suffering is an error of sinful sense which truth destroys and that eventually both sin and suffering will fall at the feet of everlasting love.  [ive a very sadistic element in my mental makeup.  i love to tease.  also i love to curse myself.  a jewish woman lillian loving confessed to cursing self too. im not alone.  anyone in mm is a sadist.  but in being cruel in a way were cursing weak mm which is already cursed.  besides mm is not a person.  its a series of stupid judgments weve accepted.  make it a practise to see self & others as divine]

faith advanced to spiritual understanding is the evidence gained from spirit which rebukes sin of every kind and establishes the claims of god

lord i believe.  help thou mine unbelief! expresses the helplessness of a blind faith.  whereas the injunction ‘believe and thou shalt be saved’ demands self reliant trustworthiness

p.27 the false doctrine of pantheism  [p’m means all is god.  mbe’s definition of cs on p.484 ‘in divine science the supposed laws of matter yield to the law of Mind’, ie matter doesnt exist except as illusion.  if matter doesnt exist then all is spirit.  all.  which means all is god.  which is pantheism.  to mbe reality is made up of god and his idea, man.  so strictly speaking and a bit nearsightedly god is not all because also there is man in the perfect kingdom. since i believe we are god and matter is a mental projection of ours, im a pantheist]

p.28 if the master had not taken a student and taught him the unseen verities of god he would not have been crucified.  the determination to hold spirit in the grasp of matter is the persecutor of truth  [is this not the very essence of evil.  to believe that matter is more powerful than god or that only matter exists]

there is too much animal courage in society and not sufficient moral courage [animal courage is from the belly, unthinking outrage.  not caring what the results would be.  but moral courage can be unrighteous too if it is mixt w. animal courage.  mental balance is the key to right living.  jesus said theres no one place to worship god so of what import was the temple. so why did he cleanse the temple.   he cleansed it in order to get crucified ]

p.29 the holy ghost...overshadowed the pure sense of the virgin mother w. the full recog that being is spirit  [mbe and her editor had a way w. words.   for example ‘overshadowed’]

having eyes ye see not, and having ears ye hear not lest ye should understand and be converted

p.40 the anchor of hope must be cast beyond the veil of matter into the shekinah into which jesus has passed [as long as we feel we need to eat and drink we will be hostages to matter.  i hope that when i ‘die’ i wont have to eat & drink.  that ill be in the immortal realm. i so envy snakes that eat their meals whole and dont have to chew.  chewing is very boring.   theres a man in india who claims he hasnt eaten or drunk in 75 ys.  hes now in his early 80s.  he claims a goddess (either an ascended incarn of god or an invented personality that expresses a certain aspect of god) feeds him.  there is the concept of prana, our breath, the pril food that pervades the universe & is accessible to all if one knows how to do so.  but once im have been absorbed by god i dont think ill have to eat]

jealousy is the the grave of the affections  [marriage and other love rigs are hobbled because we can never completely control our partner nor they us.  that is why its best to turn our love to intellectual pursuits which cant stab us in the back.  love rigs are ok as long as they dont get too serious/neurotic.  if people want to produce kids they should live separate if they can afford to.  they should write a contract re the duty of each.  but they need a place to get away from each other when needed

p.70 man is never god  [heres my biggest difference w. mbe.  i believe we are god or we are becoming god.  mm & im separately coexist in our cit.  our true being is god.  metans like me see the end from  the beginning.  we ignore time.  we dont believe we need  time or space to solve  our problems and there are physicists who dont believe in them either.  according to cs were becoming the perfect person which is an expression/projection of god but not fully god. in cs we are simply passive entities belonging to and expressing god]

p.71 god the creative governing infinite principle outside of finite form which forms only reflect  [i dont like the ‘reflect’ concept for in my mind i see us emanating  from god and then bouncing off a mirror.  why the bounce.  that suggests were impermeable to god.  why not rays that dont bounce but connect us to our true self.  ‘expressing’ is a better concept than reflecting]

p.74 darkness and light...never blend [darkness is an absence of light or a low quantity of light.  so there is no blending.  i believe mm & im separately coexist in us]

[had mbe had the words separately coexist she wouldve accepted it as describing the situate in the individual who was working to improve cit.  in one place she denies ‘coexistence’ but would she have denied ‘separate coexistence’]

p.75 ‘the mistaken assumption that man dies as matter but comes to life as spirit’ [this is from mbes chapter on ghosts]  what if humans come back as low energy mortal mind in the form of ghosts.  such entities could bring back to humans some knowledge of other states of exist.  it might be true.  it might be false.  but at least it would have and already has given us info from which to form theses.  if we believe as mbe did that life goes on for the departed why cant we communicate w. same]

p.76 when being is understood life will be recognised as neither material nor finite but as infinite  we should tap into this cit as often as possible]

the recog of spirit...comes not suddenly here or hereafter  [even the book science and health describes  a separate coexistence of mortal and immortal mind.  how can we ever become immortal if at a certain point we dont compare the 2 minds in order to make sure which is right.  this means they have to exist side by side]

p.82 miracles are impossible in [cs] because the immortal real world is all miraculous

p.88 thoughts proceding from the brain or from matter are offshoots of mm...[immortal] ideas are spiritual harmonious eternal.  [it takes a wise person indeed to know where thoughts come from since our mindscape is so mixt up]

p.90 divest yourself of the thought that there can be substance in matter.  [in this way you ID matter as being imaginary]  then the [supple] movements and transitions now possible for mortal mind will be found to be equally possible for the body.  [if matter has no substance it means it can be manipulated easily by the will.  so can mm]

p.95 lulled by stupefying illusions the world is asleep in the cradle of infancy dreaming away the hours

p.100 [i wish mbe couldve avoided the hysteria caused by the alleged then newly noticed power called animal magnetism.  in 1784 a french government commission scotched the idea.  the royal academy of medicine in paris came to the same conclusion in 1837.  mbe was convinced it lead to moral and premature physical death.  since today few people have even heard of it why bother w. it.  c scientists often blame it for all manner of ills esp. failed love affairs.  i agree a.m. is a good tool for understanding how too much magnetism between people causes much suffering.  but a.m. couldve been included when discussing mm]

man reflecting gods power has dominion over all the earth and its hosts  [this points to a separate coexistence of Mind and mm in the human cit]

• she totally separates the real world (the kingdom of god) from the unreal world we live in called mm.  this makes god totally good never wrathful

• she intros the idea of matter & mm as illusions.  this comes from advaita hinduism.  she was a very intelligent person & would have known this.  yet she says she got her theology only from the bible.  she wasnt perfect & would readily admit so.  her editor was a unitarian pastor who would have known the hindu nex esp in the new england of that time

• inadvertently she brought pantheism into the limelight even though she vigorously rejected this name.  if she wasnt a pantheist she came within a hairbreath of it.  pantheism also comes from hinduism

• she rejected the idea of satan as a personal adversary

• she rejected the idea of a trinity, the trinity having always been a stumblingblock to the understanding of c’y and having absorbed vast energy by theologians esp. during the first centuries of c’y

• she showed it isnt the quantity of religious beliefs that counts its their quality.  cs is very simple.  the hard part is to divest self of orthodox theology which is conflicting and very complex.  in a multitude of words is much sin

• that were saved not by forgiveness but by rising in cit above sin so that sin is no longer an option

• she intro’d universal salvation at about the same time universalism was intro’d by a denom that is now united w. the unitarian church
